NJ Boardgames is a community-driven hub for tabletop gamers across New Jersey. We list a variety of in-person tabletop gaming events. We encourage "free, open, general board gaming" so we emphasize and highlight those events. We also list niche tabletop gaming events like RPGs, CCGs, Warhammer, as well as single-game events like Scrabble, Rummikub, Chess, etc. We are not affiliated with the individual groups, venues, or their platforms; we simply help surface local options for you.
We are two board gamers passionate about growing our community by promoting the hobby and bringing gamers together. We both live and play in Monmouth County, New Jersey and have been organizing public events and meetups for over a decade. This site's success depends on continued engagement from organizers.
From our homepage, choose your county. Each county page shows a list of upcoming events pulled from our calendars. Highlighted events are ones that meet the criteria for being featured. At this time, organizers can add events to our site but must contact us to have them removed, so some listed events have changed or been cancelled. Always check the organizer’s site or social media for the latest details, RSVP rules, and holiday exceptions or cancellations.
At NJ Boardgames, we want to emphasize events that foster accessibility to the board gaming hobby. We highlight them in the list of Upcoming Events. Information for these events will also have a permanent place on the site. To be featured, an event must meet the following criteria:
We list in-person tabletop gaming events including but not limited to general board games, RPGs, CCGs, Chess, Scrabble, design and playtesting, etc. We also have a dedicated section for conventions with open gaming. Clubs that charge membership are okay if they offer a way for new people to try it out. We do not list online-only events, private events, sales, auctions, or anything that requires non-gaming participation (e.g. religious or promotional content).
If your event is currently featured on the site, use the FEATURED EVENT REQUEST form and use the code we provided you (contact us if you dont have a code). For all other events, please fill out an EVENT REQUEST form. Once we approve the request, it will appear on the county page where your event takes place.
If you meet all the criteria and would like your event & group to be featured, please fill out the GET FEATURED! form. Your event & group will be added to the Featured section of its county's page, and it will appear highlighted in the Upcoming Events section. We will then contact you with a re-useable code to use when adding your event to our calendar.
We get event info from organizers based on what they have provided on their own platforms (Facebook, Meetup, Website, etc.). If your event has been cancelled, your location or time has changed, or any other details need updating, please contact us and we’ll update or remove it as needed.
